Obedience to God is not a principle, it is life of God in us!

Obedience is not a principle but it is life.
                                             Romans 8:13

For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.

Beloved's of the Lord,

Many today believe that "obedience to God" is something we might gradually obtain or try to get someday. That thinking will shipwreck our faith. Obedience to God is what the Holy Spirit has come to do in us every moment of the day if we would trust Him and look to him continually to work it in our lives.

Obedience beloved's is not a "principle to learn" as a Christian. It is the "life of God" through the Holy Spirit's power living in us. Jesus said, "if you truly genuinely love me, you WILL OBEY ME."John 14:15  He didn't say if you "might attempt or try to obey him you love him." He says, if you love me, if your love for me is real, YOU WILL OBEY ME!

Why does Jesus set this condition as the proof of love? It is because the fruit of the Holy Spirit's work in our life is "to shed the love of God abroad in our hearts so we will desire to obey and will obey him completely.

This love for God comes to us in the power of Holy Spirit baptism enabling us to complete obey God and live fully 24/7 for the will of God alone. If we settle for anything less then that, or judge God's word according to our present experience of this truth, we will only give up and fail.

Like Abraham we must believe God and His word because God said so. We must believe God is not a liar, "let God be true, and every man a liar." This life of obedience is not only real and able to be lived in us, IT MUST BE LIVED IN US, if we are his disciples.

The acceptance of the fact that we are to live that life of complete surrender and obedience is not the end of our Christian life, but the beginning. When a believer embraces with their whole heart this truth, then the Holy Spirit come in power to "will it" in us to live it. Then He give us the power "to work it in us to do to it. Then it manifests from our life as true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. Beloved it is not by might, nor by power but by His Spirit.

Let us dare believe the power of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is still real and powerful in our lives to shed the love of God completely in us that we do nothing that is not the Father's will ever, not even for a moment. Jesus said, "Father as you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them. The work I do they shall also do and even greater work because I return to the Father.

The Holy Spirit has come to do the "greater work" in us. What Jesus did in a single earthly body of love, sacrifice, and complete obedience to God's will, He now can do through a "many membered corporate body of Christ." The Holy Spirit was given to us for that purpose.

Externally Jesus obedience came to completion at the cross, but the work of that obedience was lived every day of his life, that is why we too must walk on that same highway of holiness, living that life of obedience even unto death.

Beloved, a heart yielded completely to God alone in unreserved obedience in one condition for true spiritual growth and bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Blessings
