Many
believe God can only keep them from large sins, but they do not believe
God can keep them from every sin. Do you believe God can keep you from
the small area of sin that we keep like our tempers and our sometimes
unloving dispositions?
Do we think how we fail to love always is serious to God? What about anger and our tempers? Do we remember the great commandment of Jesus? Love one another as I have loved you?
When we give testy replies to people, or show our frustration or anger, or bring hasty judgments and sharp words come out of our mouths, we have VIOLATED GOD'S Royal Law of Love! This is God's Highest law.
Yet we take these character issues as just being who we are or our disposition. Those actions are not from the Kingdom of God, but the kingdom of darkness and they are sin, every time and in every form.
The Holy Spirit has come to change that disposition and nature to all who will believe that He has come not only to "will it" in you, but to "do it in you! He will do it by His keeping power in you. "Greater is He that is in you, then he that is in the world. " 1 John 4:4
Peter teaches us on how God promises to do it in us:
1 Peter 1: 3- 5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in Heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Verse 5 is the key, We are kept by the power of God through faith! Kept by God's Holy Spirit power that is able to quicken our mortal bodies. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. His work is to bring forth the Kingdom of God's love manifested in and through our lives.
We are not called to live in sin anymore or in the ways of the flesh. We have the power of the Holy Spirit now in us and available to us to "will it in us, and " to do it in us." Our job is to trust Him, worship Him and seek him with our whole hearts, "knowing that He that he begun the good work in us with be faithful to complete in us even to the day of Christ." Phil 1:6
Beloved's, Peter writes to us that we are begotten into a living hope, not a dead one, by the raising of Jesus from the dead, through the Holy Spirit we have an inheritance of "holy obedient life" incurrptible and undefiled, reserved for us in heaven."
That is why "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things pass away, and behold all things BECOME NEW! 2nd Corinthians 5:17.
Praise our God, A new life in Christ, not our old life fixed up and repackaged in religious bondage. We have a brand new Holy Spirit filled life that is the "life of Jesus" to be lived in us and through us kept by the POWER OF GOD, through Faith.
Yes, beloved, "Our faith in the work of Jesus through the Holy Spirit in our heart is what we need. The faith that the Holy Spirit of God is shedding the kingdom of God's love through your heart is real and working now in all who believe it.
Faith is what will bring the Power of God to be manifested in your lives by the power of God to live a life of love and obedience to God.
We no longer have to sin, even the smallest sin, if we live the life of the Holy Spirit or better we allow His live to direct, control and lead us as found in the 8th chapter of Romans. We no longer have be mean, angry, critical, judgmental and unloving. All those things are our "former life."
We are commanded to crucify and put away that old life but only by the power of the Holy Spirit doing it in us and through us.
Ephesians 4:21-24;
21 if so it be that ye have heard Him and have been taught by Him as the truth is in Jesus:
22 that ye put off, concerning your former manner of living, the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and that ye put on that new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
How can we ever do it? It is impossible for man to do it. We will never be holy enough, strong enough, able enough to do it in our own strength and power. Oh wretched and pitiable man that I am, who shall save my body from the shackles of death?
Do you feel like you never get there? Do you feel you can never love enough or ever stop those habits and disposition that is not from God? We all have at times, but then there is God and His word: KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH FAITH!
It is that simple. Romans 4 tells us of Abraham's faith in God and what we need to apprehend the power and promises of God.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be given by grace to the end that the promise might be made sure to all the seed, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
17 (as it is written: “I have made thee a father of many nations”), in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God.
18 Abraham, against all hope, believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, “So shall thy seed be.”
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, nor yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God,
21 and being fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able also to perform.
22 And therefore “it was imputed to him for righteousness.”
Do you see it, God sent the promise of the Holy Spirit to baptize with power from on high to "will this desire in us to live a life pleasing to God, and then he came "to do it in us" by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The real work of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, or the deeper work one might say. We are KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD... THROUGH FAITH... UNTO THE FULLNESS OF OUR SALVATION! 1 Peter 1:3-5
God is not a liar. Let God be true and every man a liar, Philippians 2:13 says,
FOR IT IS GOD WHICH WORK IN YOU: BOTH TO WILL IT... AND TO TO DO HIS GOOD PLEASURE IN OUR LIVES THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Beloved, let us rise up at once and take the land! If God be for us who can be against us
WE ARE KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD (THE HOLY SPIRIT) THROUGH FAITH!
Selah!
