Obedience: A life totally given to God!

Jesus said on the sermon on the mount, "No one can enter the kingdom of heaven, but He that does the will of the Father."Matthew 7:21  He also said, "who are my mothers and who are my brothers, "everyone who does My fathers will, they are my mothers and they are my brothers." Matthew 12: 50

Are we to do the will of God sometimes, and in somethings? Or is our life supposed to be totally given to God for His purpose and His will? Did not Jesus cry out in Gethsemane, "Father not my will, but thy will be done?

If our Christian life marked by "total obedience" to God in everything, or have we allowed the religious spirit of compromise to water it down to a human standard like King Saul who told Samuel, I have obey the commandment of the Lord. Let us read this together: 1 Samuel 115:

20 And Saul said to Samuel, “But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. 21 But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.”

22 So Samuel said:“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,As in obeying the voice of the Lord?

Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”

Beloved of the Lord, King Saul did 98 % of what the Lord asked of him. In religious school a 98 is an A, but in the Kingdom of God that requires our obedience in all things it was an F!

What did this king do? He just kept a few of the best oxen to worship God for an offering. What is wrong with that?  He kept King Agag alive to prove God was with him in victory, what is wrong with that?

Have you ever found yourself doing that? Well Lord, this little sin is just who I am, what is wrong with that? So what I have a temper and may gossip here and there, what is the big deal it is just a few little sins, I worship the Lord with the rest of my life?

Beloved's If we were honest we probably all have done that. What would the prophet say about our obeying the Lord's commands? We would say it is impossible to do, we are not Jesus. That would be correct.

It is impossible for a human being to do and we are not Jesus, however it is not true that it can't be done in us. Jesus died and rose again to send the power of the Holy Spirit to do in us what we could never do, if we do trust Him and desire to do it.

Beloved, Are we completely living for the will of God, or just for the blessing of God, or even the work of God that we fill ourselves with?

What are our true motives in light of the Holy Spirit? Are we really living to please God in everything? Are we trying to do it in our own strength and power? Or are we allowing the Kingdom of God life to be lived through us in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Have we come to true brokenness and humility before God to say, "Oh wretched man that I am, who can save my body from this shackle of death?"Romans 7:24

Do we see our true spiritual condition before God, and then can we say, Oh Thank God, He will through Jesus Christ our Lord? Will we allow the Spirit of God to have His true place in us and do the work He came to do in us?

Paul writes to us In Romans 8:2 "for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus HAS FREED us from the law of sin and death? He write, Romans 8:1 "there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus who WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE HOLY SPIRIT!

Romans 8:11 says, "And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you."

We were given His wonderful perfected life to come and live in us, work in us, and make us live a life in full obedience to the Father as He did. Praise God forever more! Paul writes to us in verses 11:15 the wonderful work and power of the Holy Spirit to make us FULL GROWN SONS IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD!

12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh.

13 For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.

1For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Beloveds, it was critical for us that Jesus send us the promise of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He came to teach us and work in a life of complete obedience to God in every way. This is why He sent us the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

He didn't send it just to give us gifts or power and just blessings, but to give us His power to live a completely new life of obedience in the power of the Holy Spirit working in us.

The Holy Spirit's work is to bring forth full grown sons and daughters now on the Earth as it is heaven. He has given us the Holy Spirit's power to change us, make us, and subdue and destroy the works of the devil in us. He has given us His Spirit so we can live a life in complete harmony with God as full grown sons and do nothing but His will.

Jesus told His disciples,  Luke 24:29,  "And behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high.”

Acts 1:8 Jesus says, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

He didn't tell them to go and do witnessing but their lives would be a WITNESS of the kingdom of God in all the Earth. Their lives filled with the Holy Spirit Fire would make them become the expression of Jesus Christ on Earth. They would be like their Master!

Oh Saints of God would we just dare believe it is true and diligently seek the face of God until we are assured His mighty working power is in us first to "will it" and then the power "to do it: in us if we just dare accept that sacrifice Jesus died for and the promise of His Holy Spirit.

"Not in your own strength for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. Phil: 2:13

Remember dear beloveds of the Lord How can you ever live a life in perfect obedience to our Father? Not in one ounce of human power, strength or wisdom but by the words the Lord gave to Zechariah in Chapter 4:6

"Then he said to me, This [addition of the bowl to the candlestick, causing it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying,

Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts.

Dear Lord, fill us once again with a fresh fire of heaven and reveal the truth that "greater is He that is in you, then He that is in the world."  1 John 4: 4

Amen!
