A night with a spider

Last night my wife was going to her SUV, when suddenly she was startled by a tarantula in the garage. She was frightened where she couldn't move. I opened the front door for her to come in by to get out of it's way.

She wanted me to go find it, though it was pitch black out and very little light in the garage. I told her I would go find it in the morning, that it would probably leave the way it came. She was quite persistent! I told her that I will try to shew it out or kill it if I must, but if I miss then we will be in trouble.

Fortunately, the tarantula's in Arizona are not the deadly kind, more of the kind you could keep for a pet. But it's appearance is quite frightening for a spider. It is big with very long legs and very hairy looking. So scary that it would frighten and paralyze many by it's sight.

Pondering on that this morning, I was reminded of the scripture about satan. In the book of Isaiah it says when we see him as he really is a question will be asked. Is this the one who that terrorized the whole world? Satan looks so menacing to us when he is attacking us. He appears as a roaring lion or a hairy tarantula. He can grip us with fear for a moment. But God is with us and He has not given us a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind! Through Him we will overcome all things. This is the lesson my wife is learning with the spider and we must learn in overcoming the devil and all evil.
